HP Offers Solutions With Fast Results In Mind

By Doug Caverly

It's easy enough to save money over time - you can buy a reliable car rather than a poorly constructed one, buy a home instead of rent, and so on. It can be difficult to save money in the short-term, though, and HP is attempting to address this problem with some new storage solutions.

The recession is going on right now, after all, and most bills can't be set aside until things get better.

So HP is offering the new HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array 6400 and 8400, which help people manage virtual server and storage environments. They can also, according to a formal statement, "cut storage administration costs by up to 50 percent."

Another fresh product is the HP SAN Virtualization Services Platform 2.1, "a network-based storage virtualization solution that increases available storage capacity."

The SVSP 2.1 "streamlines storage operations by reducing the time required for migration, replication, backup and bringing new applications into production," as well, and can match the Virtual Arrays in terms of cost savings.

Finally, there's the HP Data Protector, which supposedly has the ability to outperform its relatives listed here and deliver savings of up to 70 percent while providing a variety of backup options. HP's offering tiered levels of service, too.

Businesses should be able to find quite a few ways to swiftly make their budgets work better, then. And those quick fixes are likely to pay off in the long-term, as well.
