ZumoDrive Brings Easy Cloud Access To Mobile Devices

By John Vinson

For Cloud users, the mobile space can be a very cold and lonely place. Considering most cloud service interfaces are used through a browser, this can present a host of problems for mobile users. That's not even taking into account if the service even allows mobile access. Enter, ZumoDrive.

The ideas presented by ZumoDrive have been giving the service momentum, and looks to breakthrough as a premier Cloud service. Why, you ask? Simply because ZumoDrive takes the idea of cloud storage and simplifies it to a degree that it has tons of appeal in a casual market. That, and they sell it as a means for accessing PC files on iPhones, Android phones, and Palm Pre's. Considering how the mobile market has been growing, this is the perfect time to see how the 'cloud' can be utilized in a mobile space.

Upon downloading and installing ZumoDrive, you'll see a new drive listed on your computer. Simply drag your files to this location and then your files are available on the cloud. Then install the proper mobile apps on your device, and you can retrieve those files from just about anywhere.

ZumoDrive is free to download, and you receive 2GB of store for free as well. If you want to expand the size of your cloud space, then you pay a monthly fee. Here's a list of the costs, going all the way up to 500GB:

10GB $2.99/month

25GB $6.99/month

50GB $9.99/month

100GB $19.99/month

200GB $37.99/month

500GB $79.99/month

Along with cloud storage, ZumoDrive allows users to share their content with others. All you have to do is search through files you have on the 'Z Drive' and click the share button to email files to others. Or you can even generate a general link to use.

ZumoDrive is still a new service, so there are still kinks to work out. The potential of this cloud service is astounding though, and it will be interesting to see it's adoption rate online. Specifically with those who have never thought about utilizing the cloud for file storage.

The famous Walt Mossberg of the Wall Street Journal said it best, "But, all in all, ZumoDrive is a harbinger of the new world of cloud computing, and it is worth a look."
